"Real" Bloggers

I've been struck lately at how "real" bloggers do things... "Real" bloggers have followers.  ("Hi!" to the 10 of you I do have!)  "Real" bloggers ask questions and those followers post the answers in the comments section.  "Real" bloggers do contests and give prizes.

So, let's do this, people.

This weekend I am going to the beach with 4 of the best ladies I know.  Last year our trip was delightful... filled with fun, laughter, and wee bit of shenanigans thrown in there.  Here are some pics of the fun:
heaven will look something like this.

I was madly in love with the croissant.  Seriously.

 aren't we sweet and innocent?
I could just pass out we're so cute...

Here's the deal... you people be "real" blog followers (not just the sweet people who comment on this when it shows up in the "Notes" section on Facebook... although I 'preciate-the-crap-outta-ya when you post anywhere...) and play my game.  In the comments section on this post, tell me about one of the funnest (it's my blog, roll with the made-up words) trips you've ever taken with friends.  I'll choose a winner from those comments and that winner will receive a souvenir from my beach trip this weekend.  Yep, you could be the very lucky owner of a rope bracelet, a shell ring, a live hermit crab, salt water taffy, or something equally beachy and cool.

Don't yet know where my blog is, oh Facebook Readers?  http://beckyheel.blogspot.com  Meet me there... I'll be waiting.

Get to it... I want to laugh... tell me how much fun you had on a trip with some friends....

I remember a really fun trip to the mountains with bunko ladies and their spouses. It was a blast - there was even towing!

That was almost as much fun as my trip to NYC this weekend where I got to hang out with gypsies, do Turkish folk dance in Times Square, and get to do quick costume changes in a shelter made up of the side of a tent and a few haphazardly placed signs.

Myrtle Beach 2009 with a lot of fun girls (you should've been there). Dance club. Deejay was not impressing me and I felt the need to tell him. After a dirty look or two he looked at me and pointed to the door (as if he could make me leave!). That was funny to me! --debbie

I went to NYC with my best friend after each of us had our first child. We were, and probably still are in, the weird stage of not really knowing our new after children bodies, the stage of not really l knowing "age" appropriate clothing, etc..... But we were hot chicks on the loose in NYC:) We were deciding what clothes to wear for the day and were holding up different options and my friend had either brought a western looking get-up, not really NYC, a granny horrible sweater but oddly see through if you can imagine- which even better she had purchased for the trip or jeans that didn't fit anymore. After lots of laughing she gave up and wore a Jean jacket over a tight shirt, black leggings and tennis shoes- with the thought she'd just buy something but forgetting she'd have to go in public like this!!:) After embracing her look for the day we headed out on the streets of NYC with many funny looks our way -so I decided it was like being with an aerobic instructor and started working out as we walked;) dying laughing all the way-so really her outfit had worked and it was an awesome day:) love me some best friend time:)

I never go anywhere. But if I do one day, I'm taking Renee with me, she sounds like she knows how to have fun. Have fun on your trip - good for you! and note to self: must do a contest and giveaway in order to become non-imaginary blogger, good to know. ;0)

My best friend and I drove back all the way from Denver (in three days!) one February when she decided she wasn't going to spend the rest of the semester in Lander, Wyoming (population 6000). I flew into Denver Friday morning - left RDU at 6 am and got there by 11 am MST - took one look at the beautiful Rockies and Jessica told me to SOAK IT ALL IN because we were heading the OTHER WAY.

We spent three long, fabulous days in the car together. Our first LONG day was all the long, flat way across Kansas. We made a stop in Goodland - home to a Walmart whose parking lot smelled like cow manure and fried dough (and not in a good, State Fair kind of way). And on one of the 20 mile stretches between grain silos, I might have been heard to say "Oh, thank God this isn't the end of our drive. It's so flat, and boring. It'd put us to sleep... ... ... And that would mean we lived here."

But the best moment of the trip was when we were somewhere in Missouri, and a car full of college pulled up behind us. Jessica was driving and I said "don't look - these guys are going to pass us and we don't really want to make eye contact." As they drove by, they held up a dry erase board (WHO TAKES THAT ON A ROAD TRIP?) with a message - it said "Show us your boobies." We died laughing. Later on, we had passed them and they came back by and had amended their message. It now said "Show us your boobies... please."

(You can't make that stuff up either.)

Me again. So in high school, my parents were dumb enough to let my friends and me go to Myrtle without adults.
Junior year, we had electrical issues and fire trucks came. So fun! So of course we all were posing in front of the truck while the firemen checked things out. That same trip I decided to wash my hair in beer...on purpose.
Senior year, we got the house next door. Within MINUTES we had cops at our house, knowing we were drinking underage. As I watched too many friends poor scored beers down the drain, I slipped away to my room and hid the vodka. It was a little way to save the day. --debbie (again)

Spring break, junior year of college - two friends and I drive down to Ft. Myers (isn't that where eveyone does Spring Break) to stay for a week on friend's parents' boat.

Memories include:
1) getting lost in WV and having these two guys chase us on foot from their satellite infested shanty;
2) making it from PA to Ft. Myers in 17 hours even though we got lost (which is REALLY good time, if you don't know);
3) spending an entire evening in a bar listening to Karaoke and having a guy we later dubbed "Uncle Phil" pay for our drinks all night. We actually said to him that he was our fathers' age and he STILL kept buying us drinks;
4) living on a boat for a week.

It was a great trip. And I had an awesome tan when we got back.

Vegas. 2003. My only, get on a plane with girlfriends, trip ever. I never knew that I would or could have as much fun as we had. I have yet to go away with friends since. Today is one of my bff's birthday, and we have decided to revisit Vegas again next year for our 35th's and show the 25ers how to really party. :)

Oh wow. So many to choose from! I think one of the best was a trip to Hilton Head shortly after college with three of my girlfriends. The night we arrived, we started chatting it up with some guy at the bar who tells us that he owns a limo service and wants us to "work" for him the following night by riding around to bars in the limo and handing out free passes to get into bars. Seriously. So - of course we agreed, showed up the next night, rode around in the limo from bar to bar, received free drinks at each place, and seemed to pick up at least "two cute boys" with us at each stop. So much fun and a trip NEVER forgotten! :)

Looking forward to catching up with you, REAL BLOGGER, next month!

Is it so sad that the last time I took a trip with just friends was before I met my husband (10 years ago)? A group of 6 of us went to Chicago -- 3 boys and 3 girls. And because we were mostly broke, we shared 2 hotel rooms (divided by gender). All 3 of us girls shared one king bed. We ate at a steakhouse where mobsters used to frequent, saw Big Bad VooDoo Daddies at the House of Blues, and stuffed ourselves at Taste of Chicago. I don't really have any funny stories, but it was one of those trips I will always remember as one of the best ever.

I have SO enjoyed your "beach trip antics"! :) I was immediately taken back to my tween years with my best friend, Amy...we always seemed to find fun in every simple moment of summer (or any other time of year)! My favorite trip was one of the many with my parents...they were trying SO hard to give us a little "space". They drove my daddy's truck with a camper cover over the truck bed (I was always terribly embarrassed by that truck!), but made us our own "apartment" for the ride in the back...all the luggage and supplies were put in the back, then they put lounge chairs (the plain old beach chairs) on top of all of it...we rode all the way to the beach lying on those chairs in the "truck-bed apartment". They'd stocked the cooler with soda, we had junk food galore, and a radio with every cassette tape you could imagine. We talked, we sang, we giggled,...It was paradise! :) That was the best four hour drive I've ever had! :) As much fun as the trip was, we were just as excited about the ride back home! ;)
